Troy Wason is no stranger to leadership or the challenges of building a stronger community. With over 40 years of experience in Alberta’s political landscape, Troy is a seasoned leader with a deep understanding of what it takes to get things done. Born in Regina and raised in Calgary, his career has been defined by a commitment to public service and strategic leadership.

A Lifetime of Public Service and Strategic Leadership

Troy’s career showcases his ability to lead and innovate. As the Executive Director for two major political parties in Alberta, he played a crucial role in developing party infrastructure, strategic planning, and managing complex internal processes. This experience has given him a unique perspective on navigating the political system effectively and delivering results for the people he serves.

Beyond politics, Troy is an academic with a deep passion for history. He earned a master’s degree in history from the University of Calgary, which honed his skills in research and analysis. He has applied this expertise professionally by founding an information consulting firm in 2014 and serving as President at Axxess Point Paralegal & Investigative Services. These roles have equipped him with the analytical and investigative skills necessary to scrutinize city issues and make informed decisions.

A Dedicated Community Advocate

Since moving to Medicine Hat with his wife, Lisa Mackintosh, Troy has become an active and vital part of the community. He is currently serving his second term as President of the Cypress Club Preservation Society, where he plays a key role in preserving one of the city’s most prominent historical landmarks. His dedication extends further as a member of the City of Medicine Hat’s Historical Resources Working Group and the board of the Historical Society of Medicine Hat & District, where he works to document and celebrate the region’s rich heritage. He also is looking forward to volunteering with the 2026 Special Olympics Canada Summer Games as Co-Chair, Signage.

His proven track record of leadership, strategic thinking, and community involvement makes him a strong candidate ready to tackle the challenges and seize the opportunities facing Medicine Hat.
